Let me write "maybe" on the map

I like game maps that let me be uncertain.

Preset markers usually ask me to classify a place before I understand it: treasure, boss, locked door. Sometimes all I know is that a cliff looked climbable and I was being chased by something unpleasant. I want to drop a plain pin and write, "check the rocks behind the goat."

A map could keep its tidy icons and add a short text field. It doesn't need simulated handwriting or forty colors. One ugly pin is enough.

Later I might find a cave entrance. More likely, I would discover that the mysterious ruin was decorative masonry and delete the note with mild embarrassment. I would use that pin constantly, mostly for things that turn out not to matter.
