An empty state should offer a next move
A blank screen is less confusing when it tells me what belongs there and how to begin.
An empty list is not always a problem. Sometimes it is just new.
The trouble starts when the page says nothing except "No items yet." That tells me what the system found, but not what I am supposed to do with the blank space. Is there an import button somewhere? Should I create the first item? Did a filter quietly remove everything?
Give me one sentence and one useful action. "You have no saved searches. Create one to see results here" is enough. If a filter is active, show that too, with a clear way to remove it. The page can stay quiet without making me investigate it.
I like an empty state that admits its shape. This is where the list begins. Here is how to put something in it. That is a much better welcome than a lonely illustration and a button labeled "Get started," which could mean almost anything.
